Dawn of the Dead title sequence analysis.

The genre of the film is constructed by the red writing that is displayed in the beginning, when it changes to the next name, you find that the writing smudges like blood; this then gives people the impression that the genre of the film is horror/thriller because of the way the writing is set out. The first shot of the person we see, it looks like someone has been hung, or been tortured. This portrays that the film is going to be violent. This film touches upon the idea of Holy War as harbinger to the apocalypse. We are introduced to the cast names, to me the reason the names are placed in red and at the bottom of the screen because it indicates people dropping to the floor dying or keeping low to get out the sight of other people. 

The music is quite fast; on the odd occasion you hear screams that also gives the viewer an impression that this film is a thriller.  As we get into the sequence and we see the news reports the music becomes very country and western. Through out the sequence you can hear people talking, often news reports on people dying or odd occurrences that have been happening. Half way through the sequence a man speaks out as if he is talking to a news reporter; he says, “there is no hope”. This indicates people fear for their life.  We hear the song in the background mention that ‘ everybody is the same’ this indicates that people are not being picked on; they are all being wiped out.  The song could also give people an insight on to how the viewer could be feeling through out the film ‘ the hairs on your arms will stand up’. We also get the impressions a lot of people have died because of this disease as we hear in the song that the singer mentions ‘ 1 hundred million angels ‘. In the last scene we hear a news reporter say ‘god there here’ and we get a close up from the zombie and the shot goes black, so we don’t know what happens after, we are left wondering how it ends and that draws people to get the attraction to watch this film.

This film is associated with the war as we see a lot of soldiers throughout the sequence. This isn’t just a one-city disease it is based worldwide; we know this because the sequence is based on news reports from all over the world, they want to warn people who don’t know what’s happening. We get all source of our information from the news and information from other people, so the sequence being based on different news reports show that this could be serious. We get a close up of a man who behind him has ‘disease prevention’, and all he keeps mentioning is that he ‘doesn’t know’ how to prevent this happening, this gives people a worry because he is supposed to be able to help others and stop this happening, but he doesn’t know if he can.  We get the sense of religion, because of the first image we are shown shows people bowing down, we also see people helping each other even though they are trying to save their own life, this could also back up that religion could be a part of the film.

This film has Women, Men from young to old, and also children, this shows the viewer that what is happening in this film is affecting everybody. Through out this sequence we see people being violent and fighting and running away trying to flee their country.  This disease that is being spread has come from blood cells and blood from ‘zombies’, we know this because we are constantly being shown images of blood and blood cells.  We are also being shown to Zombies covered in blood and seeing blood dripping from various scenes. The viewer gets exposed to offices that have been fled from because they wish to get away from this disease.

The viewers will become instantly drawn to the film because they wish to know how or why this has happened. We see a scene of the president and the white house being invaded, they have men trying to protect both the president and the woman in the shot. 

Analysis of 'the Incredibles'

The incredible a title sequence is a cartoon animation, through out the title sequence the animation continues but the animation becomes extremely fast so the animation looks almost like shapes. This gives the audience the genre of the film straight away; action and adventure and the target audience being children.  The use of bright colours such as red and orange is associated with 'danger' and that ties in with the genre of the film.

Throughout the title sequence the music is kept fast and up beat, this can give viewers an exciting feel to the film. The shots are shown short and quick and in each shot their is a different character pulling a fighting pose, and this could relate to children's books, the one image on each page. By doing this it is showing the viewers the main characters and their different powers that might come with the film, also the characters are pulling a 'punching' pose that ties in with the connotations of a action and adventure film. You also see the villain throughout the shots and this also reinforces the genre of the film.

The typography of this film is big and bold ' The Incredibles '; this is common in a lot of super hero films as it sticks out and gives the impression that because the font it capitalised it could be seen as strong and this gives the typical 'superhero' look, where superheroes are made out to be big and strong. The directors names and other characters in the film have been placed into bold and solid typography, the way the writing is slightly slanted gives an impression of fast movement and this could also show that the characters are always out doing things and like to get things completed fast.

Zombieland anaylsis

In the start of the sequence 'Zombie Land' it starts straight away with the man falling from the building, this shows that the film is possibly violent. They want you to concentrate on the man falling by having him fall in slow motion with ' rock ' music in the background.
My first impression of this film would be that it was an action/horror type film.

We then see a midshot of a man spitting out dark coloured blood. He has blood everywhere, this shows the audience that this film is a horror. Then we see a woman being chased by a 'zombie' looking woman. The woman who is running shows the expression that she is very scared and by her drink coming out of her cup also shows the audience this film is a horror.
By the woman being dressed in light colours and holding a cup of drink can be seen as she is just an ordinary girl.

In the next shot we see a man holding a sign saying ' the end is near' and by the 'zombies' running towards him just goes to show that the sign could be correct. The fear in the mans face shows us that he is scared for himself because of the zombies running towards him. In the background there is a couple looking like they are running from the scene because of the 'zombies',
The next scene shown is a man who looks like he has just come from work, hense the suit he is wearing, and he is being chased my two zombie men. Behind the characters there has been a car set on fire, this gives the impression that the zombies are planning to cause chaois in the city. At this point everything is still in slow motion so you can get a feel of the fear from the characters.

We see a man in a suit, at a wedding and then a 'zombie bride' covered in blood, this is meant to be a innocent day because its a wedding, where as here it is shown to be a disaster. After this we see a nudity scene where there is a woman running with no top on. We can then get a sense that this is a horror film based on the man who is running away, we get that impression because of his facial expressions.

Throughout this sequence we see different characters fleeing from a danger scene and this then rounds up this film is based on Zombies and has a horror genre.
The typography in this film is in red writing, this could be associated with blood and when the colour red is shown it can also mean danger. At the end of the sequence we see a man been thrown on top of as car, the blood that splatters on the window and then the smashed glass after also gives an impression that it is the 'end '
